Eric Nam

Eric Nam (에릭남), is a Korean-American singer and songwriter under CJ E&M. He made his debut as a solo artist in 2013 following his successful participation on the singing competition Star Audition: Birth of a Great Star 2 in 2011.

In a 2020 interview with Men’s Wealth, Eric Nam talked about money and his finances. He said the biggest investment he has made so far was the purchase of his car, a black Mercedes Benz GLC SUV. His most extravagant purchase was the Gucci slippers with fur on the sides (cost is around $1,000). He considered himself a ‘hungry artist’ during his early days as a singer where he had to take some odd jobs to make some money. His father is his financial advisor and has helped him grow his investments. He is an angel investor to startups that he is interested in. His money advice: “think long term”.

In 2016, Eric Nam gained popularity after appearing in the show We Got Married with Solar from Mamamoo. During the time, he was referred to as the #1 husband material. In response, he said that he is in fact not the perfect boyfriend as he is not the type to take good care of his partner. In a 2020 interview, he mentioned that he was and still is very cautious when talking about Solar as he was getting a lot of negative messages from fans.

• Eric Nam graduated from Boston College with a major in International Studies and a minor in Asian Studies. He was invited by MBC to compete on Star Audition: Birth of a Great Star 2 after his Youtube cover of 2NE1’s Lonely went viral. He ranked top 5 on the show.
• In 2013, Eric Nam made his solo debut with the EP Cloud 9 and the single Heaven’s Door. From 2013 through 2016, he was the TV host for the show After School Club.
• He became a participant on the show King of Mask Singer as Hello Mr. Monkey. Eric collaborated with Amber (former F(x) member) on the single I Just Wanna. He departed from B2M and signed a contract under CJ E&M.
• Eric became part of the cast of the TV show We Got Married, season 4 with Solar from Mamamoo as his ‘wife’. Solar and Eric won the Best Couple Award at the MBC Awards. He was named 2016 Man Of The Year by GQ Korea.
• Eric Nam made the list of 30 Under 30 Asia 2017 by Forbes.
• Eric was named as an Honorary Embassador at the 2018 South Korean Winter Olympics.
